Assam’s household, the industry stared at the steep price increase

Guwahati: The Company’s Power Distribution Limit Assam (APDCL) has submitted an application for the Assam Electricity Regulation Commission (AERC) to revise the Retail Rate increase for 2022-23 to meet the needs of Rs 8367.68 Crore, which will hit a hard household consumer, which forms 93 % of the company’s consumer base.
According to proposals, tariffs (fixed cost combinations and variables) will fall at a minimum of RS 21.75 (which for the Jeevan Dhara category) for each kilo watt consumption per hour if the state government does not announce past financial support.
The company has not proposed any changes in the tariff for three consumer categories – electric vehicle charging stations, electrical crematoriums and train traction.
The total rate in the monthly bill is a fixed cost combination, which is per month per connection / kw / kva / HP and variable costs, which per kilo watt per hour.
There is a third component as a rental meter, which has been saved does not change.
The company has proposed that consumers with ‘domestic’ connections pay Rs 6.75 per KWH as a variable cost for the first 120 units per month, which will increase by Rs 1.85 / kWh.
It has also been proposed to raise the fixed cost components in this category to RS 75 and both components together will be Rs 81.75 against the current number of RS 54.90 (subsidized).
Consumption between 120 and 240 units will attract a variable cost of 7.90 in place 6.15 and consumption above 240 units will withdraw the cost of the RS 8.15 variable.
Likewise, for consumers in ‘domestic-b’, the costs of variables are proposed to be increased to Rs 8.75 KWh from Rs 6.75 KWH, while the charge is still proposed to be raised to RS 75.
The fixed costs increase drastically 50% to 100% Among various categories of domestic consumers.
Even for government schools, allegations have still been raised from Rs 70 to RS 95 in the petition.
Among industrial consumers, the fixed costs have been raised by Rs 100 for the high tension industry with connections above the 150 KVA category, which are the highest changes proposed among all categories of consumers.
For load variable components depending on the level of power consumption by any consumer, the highest increase in Rs 2.25 / KWH has also been proposed for the option i high tension industry with connections above 150 KVA Customer categories (variable costs will be higher for A consumer voltage temporary height).
