GUWAHATI: The Assam authorities on Friday reported that the SDG India Index 2020-21, that has put the country among the lowest five, doesn’t reflect the true pciture since it had been based on old statistics of National Family Health Survey 4 (NFHS) poll of 2015-16.
Following an interview NITI Aayog on Friday, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said,”They advised us that the NFHS 4 questionnaire was first utilized for this evaluation, meaning that the evaluation referred to this poll ran in 2014-15.
NFHS 5 information is still not accessible.
Thus, this printed performance evaluation is based on older information.
Following our conversation by NITI Aayogwe think Assam’s operation will be a lot better as soon as the NFHS 5 information is utilized for evaluation,” he explained.
According to the third version of this SDG India Index, which has been published by NITI Aayog on June 3, Assam’s overall score from its own functionality in 16 targets on 115 quantitative indexes along with a qualitative evaluation on Goal 17, is 57 and has been ranked 26th among 28 countries.
Sarma said,”The SDG India Index, that moment, has demonstrated that people have yet to be able to execute well in most aims.
But we’ve been updated to the celebrity class from aspirant group with a whole rating of 57.
Between 2018 and 2019, Assam has improved rather than has gone as it seemed like from the very first glimpse of this SDG Index.” Sarma also known to Assam being revealed to have done lowest at the gender equality target and continues to be rated lowest among all nations having a score of 33, that will be under the national average score of 48.
The SDG Index states”this poor performance is attributed to the reduced scores acquired especially from the 2 indicators associated with speed of violence and crimes against women, using the prices being highest in the nation.” It provides,”The maximum rate of crime against women was seen in Assam at roughly 178, followed closely by the UT of Delhi in 144 offenses per 1,00,000 female inhabitants.” Sarma said in accordance with this SDG Index, this usually means that many girls of Assam are victims of crimes.
“We’re a cosmopolitan culture at Assam and here girls are free to roam to police stations and document FIRs.
We’ve urged NITI Aayog there must be talks on if moving to police station to record FIRs is a favorable indication or negative index.” The SDG Index report also pointed out the the data to most states and UTs for any specific indicator shouldn’t belong to various reference intervals for the interest of statistical comparability however sometimes, the Index needed to supply data from an old variant of this federal survey report that covered all or the majority of the states and UTs.
