Coimbatore: Immediately after a video of a man who forced the assistant to the village of Dalit to prostrate before he began to take a round on whatsapp on Saturday morning, the district collector G Sectean formed a committee to investigate a case and direct the police to register the case.
This video shows a 56-year-old Muthusamy, assistant administration officer of Odderpalayam Village Kalaiselvi, prostrating before 38 years K Goupersamy, a resident of Gobirasipuram near Pogalur, in the village office on Friday.
The official source said Gopalsamy had visited the Village Administrative Officer Office (VAO) on Friday to examine several land documents.
“Gopalsamy signed a heated argument with Vao when he asked him to produce a legitimate document to check the details of the property.
He harassed the village assistant by using his castle when Muthusamy intervened and asked him to calm down.
Muthusamy then slapped Gopalsamy, who forced the former to prostrate before him .
“A spectator, who recorded the incident using a cellphone camera, circulated a video on whatsapp.on Friday night, Goupersamy filed a complaint to Police Annur, looking for action against Vao and his assistant, who slapped him.
In his complaint, Gopalsamy said he went to the VAO office to ask about the transfer of the Patta.
“Gopalsamy said his father’s property was transferred to the last brother without his knowledge.
When he asked Vao about this that Muthusamy slapped him,” said a police officer quoting complaints.
On Saturday, Leela Alex District Revenue Officer, who headed the investigation committee formed by a collector, held an investigation with Muthusamy, Kalaiselvi and Gopalsamy in Annur Taluk Office and submitted a detailed report to Sameran.
Police supervisor S Selvanagarathinam also conducted an investigation with the trio at the Annur police station.
Interrogation lasts for almost two hours.
Collectors are expected to take further action based on the investigation report.
Mobers of Thaythai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam and the Democratic Youth Federation from India has protested on Friday, demanding collectors to take action against discriminatory village assistants.
