Mangaluru: The Association of Truck Owners Dakshina Kannada has demanded that the National Highway Authority (NHAI) relieve local commercial vehicles from paying toll in Surahkal and Bramhararootlu.
They have stated that in Tumakuru, Bengaluru, Nelamangala, Toll Plaza did not charge victims of local vehicles – both personal and commercial.
Suratshkal Plaza should not be allowed to operate because the minimum distance between two toll plazas must be 60 km, the truck owner said.
The Association of the President of Sunil D’Souza told TI that during the last 18 months the association had requested district administration and NHAs for exceptions.
However, they have not received a positive response.
In Suratshkal Toll Plaza, he said, “the area is under the boundaries of the city company, but we have toll roads.
Every district has freed local vehicles, except for Dakshina Kannada, maybe because we never raise our voice against it.
According to the guidelines, alun -Alun tollishes must have basic requirements including toilets, parking lots, ambulance services, which are not in these two forties.
“Often there is a technical problem reported in both of these forties and we were made to wait.
Technically, we shouldn’t pay if We waited more than 60 seconds.
Recovery trucks are not placed in all these plazas, “he said.
For almost a decade, some organizations have raised their voices against it, but protests have no positive impact.
Speaking of financial difficulties, he said, “For our luck, the service center / showroom from two truck companies is within a radius of six km of Plaza Toll Ketupal.
So, if we have to visit the service center, one of which is only 200 meters away, we Must pay Rs 295, “said D’Souza.
He added that the association planned to hold an attack with the support of the bus union and the taxi if the government did not heed their demands.
