Bengaluru: Bengaluru is a district where most languages are said in this country, say the latest analysis of the 2011 census by Delhi-based academics.
No less than 107 languages used in Bengaluru, including 22 scheduled languages and 84 were not scheduled.
Other districts where more than 100 languages were pronounced were decided from Nagaland (103) and Sonitpur of Assam (101), said analysis by Shamika Ravi, a senior colleague of non-resident brookings institutions, and Mudit Kapoor, Associate Professor Economics at the Indian Statistics Institute .
44% of the City people speak Kannadathe where more than 90 languages are heard including Jalpaiguri in Bengal (98), East Khasi Bukit in Meghalaya (96), South West Delhi (97), Anglong carbi in Assam (95), Pune ( 93) and Darjeeling (91).
Mumbai Suburban has 88 languages.
The most diverse district including Yanam (Puducherry), Kaimur (Bhabua, Bihar), Kaushambi and Kanpur Dayat (UP) and Ariyalur (Tamil Nadu).
In these districts, less than 20 languages are spoken.
In Bengaluru, the total percentage of people who speak Kannada is 44.5%.
Other main languages include Tamil (15%), Telugu (14%), Urdu (12%), Hindi (6%), Malayalam (3%).
All languages covered by the author say the census includes all languages regardless of the size of the speaking population.
