New Delhi: Capital on Wednesday recording 125 new Covid-19 cases, the highest in the past six months.
Previously, on June 22, the city has recorded 134 Covid-19 cases.
Covid-19 cases have increased steadily in Delhi for the past three weeks and many public health specialists connect it to the spread of the new Omicron variant of Coronavirus.
According to the data distributed by the Ministry of Health Union, since December 2, National Capital has reported 57 new variants, which is known to be very contagious.
“State genome sequencing capacity, although doing brilliant work, needs to be improved so that every case related to travel and their contact can be traced immediately,” Dr.
Nk Mehra, an honorary emeritus scientist from the Indian Medical Board of Research (ICMR), said.
He added that although it might not be possible to stop the new variant of spreading completely, preventive measures can help reduce the speed of transmission and, therefore, avoiding sudden load on our health service infrastructure.
At present, the data distributed by the Delhi Government, shows there are 624 active Covid-19 cases in the city.
From them, 210 was received at the hospital and 289 was in a house isolation.
The city hospital said the reception because Covid-19 had risen.
At the end of November, Lok Nayak Hospital only had five Covid-19 patients received.
At present, this number has risen to 64.
The doctor said very few patients had severe symptoms, on the brighter side.
In the last 22 days, the capital has recorded an average of 72 Covid-19 cases every day.
This is the highest in the past four months.
