Covid-19 death registration in local bodies in the state took with a worrying speed during the second wave, starting from 404 deaths of a month to more than 10,000 registration of death in May, according to RTI data on death.
The peak is astronomical, more than 2,000% in three months.
At the same time, the official health department data shows that the situation is quite large under control.
Between March and May, the official death toll during the second wave was only around 4,500.
But the registration figures put the number for three months at 12,560, almost three times the Ministry of Health.
There is a striking gap in the number of people who died because Covid in Kerala in April and May.
When the registration figure shows that April and can record 1,554 and 10,602 Covid deaths each in Kerala, the Ministry of Health’s numbers for the appropriate period are 687 and 3,507.
Between April and May, the cassette has more than double the 4 lakh to 9 lakh.
The Ministry of Health, overwhelmed by an uncontrolled wave, almost lost the count of people who died because of Covid-19, which reflected differences in 7,095 deaths between the registration figures and official data of the Ministry of Health.
The severity of death in May, as shown in the registration figure, in such a way that more than 30% of the total death registration in 10 districts in May is due to Covid-19.
The pattern of registration of deaths in the local body changed dramatically in 2021.
In 2020, the difference was minimal – 3,072 deaths were officially declared and 2,347 deaths were registered as Covid deaths.
In 2021, the official declaration was carried out for 10,163 deaths.
However, local bodies registered 17,237 Covid deaths until June.
Officials say normally there is a pause between the date of death and the date of registration except in some local bodies and even in that number, the number of Covid death registration has issued an official number in 2021.
