Mumbai: The Covid graph of Maharashtra and Mumbai daily reflects the effects of weekends on Monday because less tests than usually done and daily cases drop significantly.
The state added 2,432 cases, the lowest in 231 days since February 8 (2,216), and 32 deaths.
Mumbai also reported 376 cases, under 400 cases reported for five days.
With this, the total case rose to 65.4 lakh and the death reached 1,38,902.
The Mumbai case touched 7.4 lakh and the death recorded at 16,091.
“We conducted 30,692 tests in the city and the positivity of the daily test was 1.2%,” said Suresh Kakani, commissioner of additional BMC Municipal.
Kakani said more tests would be carried out on weekdays because BMC had begun to test 20 high-risk contacts from each positive patient.
The number of people in quarantine has balloons up to 70,739-up from 31,521 on August 22.
Other covid city parameters continue to dip, with 323 critical patients and only 23% from 2,206 ICU covid beds in the city occupied.
Total residential covid bed has dropped below 10%.
“We have adequate infrastructure in terms of beds, oxygen, and medicines.
Even the jumbo center in Kanjurmarg is almost ready, but we don’t want to assign it until there is a need for a bed,” he added.
Meanwhile, due to reconciliation and removal of duplicate entries, the cumulative case fell 4.995 and disposal fell by 4,674.
The active case is dipped in 37,043, where 5,053 is in Mumbai.
State government officials said cases in the state have added and declined.
With the state government opening more sectors, it is important to do more tests and continue to vaccinate more and more people.
