At 259, the district saw a surge in Covid case, the highest since mid-July

Coimbatore: The number of Daily Covid cases has multiplied two in the district in 24 hours by recording 259 positive cases on Wednesday.
This is also the highest since mid-July last year.
The district recorded three Covid deaths that day.
The number of active cases also increased to 1,089 on Wednesday from 899 on Tuesday.
Because a sudden surge in positive cases, the district government has planned to revive the detention zone since Thursday and doubled testing.
More than 6,000 samples are tested every day in the district.
The level of participants has increased in the district from 1.0 to 1.6 in recent days.
Detailing the various steps taken by the district administration to contain the spread of the virus, the SS Ssanan G collector told reporters on Wednesday that they had planned to increase testing from 6,000 samples a day to 11,000 samples.
Laboratory testing capacity in Coimbatore is more than 25,000 samples per day, including private facilities.
Cmch can test around 10,000 samples per day.
There is no detention zone but given the case trends for the past few days, the detention zone will be revived.
Thudiangur, tendrils and several areas in Mettupalayam reported more cases over the past few days.
Camp fever will be arranged in areas where more cases are reported.

In accordance with the standard operating procedure issued for the Omicron variant, this house isolation is permitted for those who are without symptoms or have mild symptoms.
“We see home isolation as a big strategy,” he said.
Although this is expected to reduce the burden on health infrastructure, the volunteer team of 32 members will continue to monitor them in house isolation through phone calls from the control room.
