LUCKNOW: Continuing with the record-breaking spree, over 28,000 people in the city took the shot in the arm against Covid-19 on Friday, breaking the record of the highest number of inoculations in a single day set on Thursday.
As many as 28,131 beneficiaries turned up at 252 booths for the jab.
However, the number still remained below the target of 30,000 aimed for the day by the district administration.
While 27,431 doses were administered at government booths, 700 took the jab at eight private hospitals.
On Thursday, a total of 27,395 inoculations took place.
With this, over 13.54 lakh people in the city have received at least one dose since the start of the vaccination drive on January 16.
Among these, 2.68 lakh are such who have been fully immunized after completing the two-dose course of the vaccination.
However, the gap in turnout between men and women continued, as witnessed since the start of the mass immunisation campaign.
On Friday too, fewer women turned up to take the jab in comparison to men.
Among beneficiaries,12,162 (43%) were female and 15,969 male.
Nearly 64% (18,067) of the beneficiaries were in the 18-44 years age group followed by 28% (7,938) aged between 45 and 59 years and 6% (1,818) elderly aged 60 years and above.
The remaining 139 were healthcare and frontline workers.
Chief medical officer Dr Sanjay Bhatnagar said that the awareness campaign in rural areas is also bearing fruit and the hope is to cross the 30,000 per day mark in the coming days.
