At hospital only for isolation? Insurance claims can be rejected

Nagpur: A positive Covid report in the city now leads to a compulsory institutional quarantine, both in free government facilities, or by paying private hospital facilities.
In the last case, the financial advisor and hospital administration said there was a possibility that claiming to get replaced bills could be rejected by insurance companies.
This is because mild or asymptomatic cases do not require hospitalization from a medical perspective.
This gives an insurance company the opportunity to reject the claim.
Even when facilities in quarantine centers such as MLA Hostel or free government hospitals, the bed is charged a private set.
The majority of patients in the wave are currently only given paracetamol, if there are fever, along with tablet vitamins.
A number of other patients, who are fully asymptomatic, are only stored under observation.
However, because they are covid positive, they end up at the hospital or quarantine center.
“The minimum cost for oxytated beds is RS4,000, no matter the symptoms of light.
The patients must stay for seven days,” said Dr.
Anup Marar, Vidarbha Hospital Association Convention.
Insurance companies pay for hospitalization, either based on cash or replacement, only if acceptance is guaranteed.
These claims are processed after a thorough examination of their parties.
“If the parameters are normal, or patients can be managed at home, then claims can be rejected on the grounds that hospitalization is not needed,” said Manoj Aya from GNTL Financials, an insurance advisor company.
Among the main parameters are oxygen and temperature levels.
Prasnana Dani, also an insurance advisor, too confirm that the claim if submitted is likely to be rejected.
“The majority of patients today do not require major medical care and cases can be managed at home,” said Dr.
Nitin Shinde, a specialist of infectious diseases at Alexis Hospital.
Apart from concerns over the beds occupied, the non-availability of insurance is also a problem, the hospital source said.
Private hospitals in the city have stopped taking covid patients if they do not have or mild symptoms.
They were only asked to find another hospital, said a source.
“Patients get mild symptoms, which are being treated with paracetamol or cough medicine if needed.
Sometimes fever takes place almost a day,” said Dr.
Rajan Barokar from Kingsway Hospital.
Fear of mandatory isolation also maintains a low number of tests, he said.
During the first wave of Covid, a policy like Corona Rakshak was launched.
Below, even testing positively gets the cover of Rs2,5 lakh.
This scheme leaves an insurance company that pays a lot and it’s not pushed in the second wave.
Even insurance agents do not encourage schemes because of low premiums, said sources.
