GURUGRAM: A permanent vaccination camp will be set up at Huda City Centre metro station from July 1 and 250 Covishield shots will be administered daily, health department officials have said.
The site will be open from 9 am to 5 pm.
While 200 slots will be available for people seeking their first dose, 50 slots would be set aside for second dose recipients.
No pre-registration will be required and anyone above 18 years can get vaccinated at the camp without any charge.
“We will open the session site at Huda City Centre metro station from July 1, which is observed as Doctors’ Day in our country.
The camp will be set up on the ground floor of the station building so that people do not have to buy metro tickets to take the jabs.
Anyone above 18 years can get vaccinated at the site for free.
It will be a permanent camp where people will get the shots on a first-come, first-serve basis,” Dr Virender Yadav, chief medical officer, Gurugram, said.
“In some time, we will increase the number of second dose slots, as many people will be due for their second jabs by that time,” he added.
Asked why the metro station was chosen as the camp site, Yadav said since Huda City Centre is a terminal stop for metro on the Yellow Line, a lot of people travel through the area daily.
“We visited the station premises on Friday.
The space is adequate and it meets all parameters for a vaccination site.
We will have a team to handle AEFI (Adverse Events Following Immunisation) cases and an ambulance will be on standby.
The camp will coordinate with the nearest government hospital,” he said.
According to officials, the health department is identifying government offices and community centres in the industrial areas of Gurugram to increase the number of session sites.
“We are carrying out a survey to expand our reach in the industrial areas,” an official said.
No government centre will conduct Covid vaccination drive on Saturday and Sunday, because of polio immunisation programme, officials have said.
Private facilities will, however, vaccinate people as usual.
On Friday, 12,690 people in the 18-44 years age group got inoculated in the city and in the 45+ category, 4,637 people took the jabs.
As many as 29 health workers and 46 frontline workers also got vaccinated during the day.
Meanwhile, after Sputnik V shots were given at Sarvodya Hospital and Fortis Escort in Faridabad on Thursday, Fortis Hospital, Gurugram, also started administering the vaccine.
On Friday, 118 people took the jabs at the centre.
Officials said 150 slots will be available daily and the site will be open from 11 am to 2 pm.
The price of each dose, including administrative charges, has been fixed at Rs 1,145.
