Beijing: Authorities say at least eight people have died and Nine remains lost in the collapse of the hotel in the city of Suzhou in East China.
The hotel building collapsed Monday afternoon, Suzhou government said.
Most people in the building at that time were hotel guests.
Rescuers use cranes, stairs, metal cutters, and search dogs to find the survivors.
Twenty-three people are trapped.
Six has been saved.
More than 600 people including the earthquake rescue team and 120 vehicles have been mobilized for operations.
The city of Suzhou is in Jiangsu Province near Shanghai.
