Washington: At least four US military personnel were killed in an explosion outside Kabul airport on Thursday, the source told Reuters.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby was separately confirmed in a statement that “a number” member of US services died in the attack, but did not provide specifics.
“A number of other people were treated for injuries,” said statement by Kirby read, adding that “a number of Afghans” also “became victims of this vile attack”.
At least 13 people were killed and 15 were injured when two suicide bombers and gunmen attacked the crowd in droves to Kabul Airport on Thursday.
One of the bombers crashed into people who stood far in the waste water channel under the hot sun, threw the body into the fetid water.
US officials said that information was still in and they tried to determine the right number of victims.
An official said complex attacks were believed to have been carried out by the group of Islamic countries, far more radical than the Taliban, who recently controlled the country and condemned the attack.
