Tehran: Two strong earthquakes struck southern Iran in one hour on Sunday, killing at least one person and triggering a panic scene, the official source said.
An earthquake measuring 6.4 and 6.3 reached 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) in Hormozgan Province, said the Iranian seismology center.
A 22-year-old man was killed by a falling electric pole, Iran’s red crescent head Nehdi Valipor told government television.
He said several teams had been deployed to assess damage.
Public broadcasters Aired Live Footage from the area showing trucks stop on the road, have been shaken by tremors.
The wall of the building cracked in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, the capital of Hormozgan Province, Local Governor Azizollah Konari told reporters.
“The earthquake lasts a long time and people who are scared,” said television.
