At least three people were killed and more than a dozen were injured after the Taliban guerrillas opened fire during protests against the group in the West Jalalabad City, two witnesses and former police officers told Reuters.
The witnesses said the death occurred when locals tried to install Afghan national flag in a square in the city, about 150 km (90 miles) to the east of Kabul.
Taliban spokesman is not immediately reached for comments.
