Ahmedabad: With the cost of surging raw materials, more expensive commodities coupled with better demand in running the celebration season, Gujarat’s GST Collection stand at the highest point of all time Rs 8,497 Crore in October 2021, since the launch of the new tax regime.
Tax collection grew 25% year-to-year against Rs 6,797 Crore in October 2020.
Gujarat has the second highest GST collection, Lagging Maharashtra where the mop-up tax is Rs 16,355 Crore in October.
“There is an increase in demand because of the celebration season and in running until diwali because of which sales have increased cross-sector.
At the same time, sales turnover also increases due to the increase in certain commodity prices.
As a consequence, the number of tax billing has risen,” JP Gupta said , Primary Secretary, State Finance Department.
According to the Ministry of Finance Union, income will remain higher if car sales and other products have not been affected due to semi-conductor supply disorders.
Even a month, GST collection rose 9.2% against RS 7,780 Crore September in Gujarat.
GST state collection (SGST) has also grew 40% in Gujarat during October.
According to state government data, the SGST collection reached Rs 3,821 Crore in October this year against RS 2,731 Crore Collection in the same month last year.
“The number of e-way bills produced also rose 21%.
This is also an indicator of increasing demand and production,” Gupta said.
