Chandigarh: Minister of Sports Punjab Rana Gurmet Singh Sodhi announced on Friday that the hockey players from the country participating in the Tokyo Olympics will get Rs 2.25 Crore each if the team won a gold medal.
Previously, a number of Rs 2.25 Crore had been announced to be given to the entire team if he won gold.
Sodhi, according to the official statement, said that of a total of 20 players from Punjab, 11 players gave the best in the Indian Hockey team competing at the Tokyo Olympics.
The men’s team has raised the hopes of medals by quarter-finals in Tokyo, winning their four league five matches.
India last won the Olympic medal in Hockey in 1980 when they won eight of their last gold medals.
