Nagpur: At the request of the BJP leader and former Ramesh Chopde Corporator, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has operated the Covid-19 vaccination center of a booth on the wedding grass owned by, and also named, politicians in Awasthi Chowk in the west of Nagpur for the past four months.
Politicians have displayed banners at the entrance announcing ‘free inoculation’, highlighting the symbol of the BJP party and photos of herself and other leaders.
This display also contradicts the code of ethics in place in the district for the selection of MLC.
Chopde also sent messages in social media groups every morning for the past two days.
Messages say Covishield is available free of charge in New Chopde Grass from 11 and so on and open to all.
There is no mention of NMC or the government in the message, although the center is being operated by the civil body.
Right from staff for dosage, syringes, nurses, doctors, computers and all other ingredients needed are facilitated by NMC.
No board or banner was founded by NMC at the vaccination center.
The only banner is that Chopde.
Warehouse is an emergency tin-warehouse facility for storing materials.
Large quantities of materials used for grass decorations and hosting functions are stored in the room from where the vaccination center operates.
According to the government guidelines, there must be a waiting room, registration area, followed by another room for vaccination and a third of the observation for 30 minutes in the center after vaccination.
None of these facilities are available at the center.
Confirm that the vaccination center cannot be operated from the warehouse, NMC additional city Commissioner RAM Joshi says toi, “I was not aware of the problem like in the center.
I will verify and do what is needed.
” NMC Zonal Medical Officer Ateequr Raheman Khan said, “We used to run the center at the NMC school at Pension Nagar.
Beneficiaries and staff face discomfort due to high temperatures during the summer.
Corporator Archana Pathak (also from BJP) suggests grass.
Chopde provided a nice room with all facilities.
Then, quoting a function, he shifted the center to another room.
” Chopde said, “People face problems in the previous location.
Therefore, I asked NMC officials to run the center of my page.
I provide space and material free costs.
About 20,000 people benefit.
