New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad thwarted a big terror attack on Sunday and arrested two-related operatives in Al-Qaida during surgery in Lucknow.
Briefing Journalist about Operations, Police ADG (Law and order) Prashant Kumar said that ATS had found a large terror module in the Lucknow area and arrested two terrorists related to the Ansar Ghazwat-Ul-Hind Al-Qaida.
“The cache of arms and explosives are restored during the attack,” Kumar added.
The terrorists were identified as Minhaz Ahmad (R) and Maseeruddin.
He said terror activities were running from Peshawar, Quetta on the Pakistan-Afghan border.
“Minhaz Ahmad and Maseeruddin played an important role.
Their comprehension in Lucknow and Kanpur were also involved,” he said.
Kumar said that the operator planned to attack Lucknow.
According to a report, the house where the raid was carried out owned by a man named Shahid.
