Ahmedabad: The Gujarat ATS (anti-terrorism squad) on Monday Nabbed A BSF Jawan posted in Gandhidham at Kutch to be suspected of spying on Pakistan from the BSF headquarters at Bhuj.
Jawan, identified as a sajjad imtiaz, is a native of Rajouri in Jammu & Kashmir.
He has joined BSF in 2012 and posted with the BSF Battalion-74 company, said ATS officers.
Officers said that Imtiaz had shared important information with some unknown people in Pakistan which he paid.
“ATS officers get input about Imtiaz and their cellphone number under supervision,” said a statement issued by ATS.
When the ATS officer checked his cellphone details, they found that he got a number using the Aadhaar card where the date of birth was mentioned on January 1, 1992.
On the other hand, his passport was issued on the date of birth as January.
30, 1985.
Imtiaz had traveled to Pakistan at Samjhauta Express on December 1, 2011, from Attari and had lived there for 46 days.
After that, he joined BSF and posted in several areas including several advanced areas in Jammu.
Then, he got another number using someone’s fake ID based in Tripura.
He gave the number to the handlers of Pakistan to communicate about whatsapp, ATS statement said.
According to ATS, it leaks strategic information.
ATS officers said that Imtiaz was used to deposit the money he received from Pakistan into the stories of his brothers and a colleague.
Acting on specific input, ATS officers went to Bhuj BSF Station headquarters and arrested him.
