Attack on Fishermen TN by Sri Lanka Navy: We cannot become a silent audience, Stalin tells Minister of External Affairs

Trichy: condemned the alleged shooting of Nagapattinam fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy in Mid Sea on August 1, Minister Tamil Nadu MK Stalin wrote to the Minister of External Affairs C Jaishankar to suppress the neighboring government not to release violence on Indian fishermen.
“It is very condemned that they launch violence against our fishermen by ignoring international law.
We cannot become a silent audience on problems that affect the livelihood of thousands of Indian fishermen.
We must bring long political resolution for this problem,” he said.
E Kimeiselvan, 33, a boat driver from Akkaraipettai, has been injured in the incident, the ministerial head said, adding that nine others had fled with no injured.
Fishermen who were injured were undergoing treatment at the Government General Hospital in Nagapattinam.
The fishermen alleged that the Armed Sri Lanka forced to attack them when they lure about 40 miles southeast of Kodiyarai.
The fishermen fled the scene and reached the coast early on Monday.
The minister’s chairman also said that the incident triggered agitations among people in Tamil Nadu, especially among people living in coastal areas “would be our duty to protect our lives and goods.
