Attack on SDO & Wife: 1 held, 3 in runaway

Ghaziabad: A 21-year-old young man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly attacking and injuring the sub-division (SDO) officers from the electricity department and his wife with a screwdriver.
On December 5, Pramod Kumar, SDO in Muradnagar, and his wife Asha went to their home in Chipiyana Village from the place of relatives in Vijay Nagar when the incident occurred.
Kumar received a severe injury in his head while his wife received an injury to the shoulder and head.
According to the police, the defendant was identified as Suraj Kumar, a resident of Vijay Nagar.
He used to work with a financing company.
Yogendra Malik, Sho, Police Station Vijay Nagar, told Toi that Suraj and his three friends walked on the road when the SDO car hit one of his friends.
After the heated argument, the defendant attacked the couple with a screwdriver.
“One of the accused of working as an AC mechanic and at the time of the incident, he took out a screwdriver.
Then, Suraj took it and hurt government employees,” he said.
Sho added that the defendant and his friends were ordered below 57 (efforts to murder), 323 (punishment because voluntarily cause injury) and 504 (intentional insults with the intention to provoke peace violations).
“One team has been formed to catch the other accused in this case too,” the officer said.
