New Delhi: Congress on Saturday demanded the withdrawal of all taxes on gasoline and diesel imposed during the past year, and said the government should not stop the free ration scheme before March 2022.
Pawan Khera Congress spokesman said the government, on behalf of Covid, has increased the price of gasoline equal to rs 13 per liter and diesel by Rs 16 per liter with central tax, and the same thing must be drawn immediately because of the collection of high GST.
“The government has tapped his back and bragged about noting a collection of GST pre-covid times.
You use Covid as a reason to increase the price of gasoline and diesel.
Please pull it right now, the GST collection has returned to normal,” he told reporters.
“We also demand that Garib Kalyan Yojna, where food gardens are distributed to poor poor people, should not be stopped in November.
This must continue until March 31, 2022 because we all see India’s position on the latest Hunger index,” Khera said.
India was ranked 101st in the Hunger 2021 global index, down from 94 in the previous year.
Asked about the reduction in VAT tariffs on fuel in the countries given by the Congress, Khera said discussions on and decisions would be taken soon.
However, he said BJP and his allies had 27 countries, while Congress had three, but a large increase in gasoline and diesel was caused by central excise.
“Congress governed countries are discussing problems and decisions will be taken soon,” added Khera.
The central government reduces customs for gasoline in the amount of RS 5 and in Diesel by Rs 10, and some countries ruled by BJP have reduced VAT on fuel this week.
Congress said that the BJP government has done it after the Bypoll results where BJP is not good enough.
Khera said the BJP government must withdraw further taxes on gasoline and diesel immediately, claiming that it might face worse results in the upcoming election due to public anger.
