Canberra: Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison denied that he had lied to the French President Emmanuel Macron while secretly negotiating the submarine agreement with the United States and British England, accusations that had increased the scatter of the Australian surprise canceled from the French agreement.
Barnaby Deputy Prime Minister Joyce advised France was excessive, saying, “We did not deface the Eiffel Tower.” Australia in September dropped 5 years, 90 million Australian dollars ($ 66 million) a contract with the majority of France Naval Group to build 12 conventional diesel-electric submarines.
On the contrary, Australia made an alliance with the United Kingdom and the United States to obtain eight nuclear-powered submarine fleets built with US technology.
Macron told Journalist Australia Sunday night in Rome, where the two leaders attended the group of state-20 countries, the new alliance “very bad news for Australian credibility and very bad news for trust that large partners can have with Australia.” Answering reporters’ questions about whether he thought Morrison lied to him, Macron replied, “I don’t think, I know” he lied.
Morrison, who was also in Rome, said he did not lie Macron, while the Australian government’s senior minister criticized the French leader to increase disputes through a little private.
“We did not steal an island, we did not deface the Eiffel Tower, the contract,” Joyce said in the Australian capital on Monday.
“Contracts have terms and conditions, and one of their terms and conditions and propositions is that you might come out of the contract.
We came out of the contract,” Joyce added.
Joyce’s office couldn’t say whether “stealing an island” was a reference to the British Channel Small Sark Island, who was unemployed French nuclear physicist Andre Gardes tried to overthrow the assault rifle in 1990.
The strange event inspired 2013 film, “The man tried to Steal an island.
” David LittleProud’s cabinet minister explained that Macron’s criticism of Morrison as “does not make sense.” Morrison could not reveal that the United States has offered Australia nuclear technology propulsion when couples eat together in June for national security reasons, LittleProud said.
“I am very clear that conventional submarines will not be able to fulfill our strategically interested,” Morrison said.
Macron has refused to receive Morrison’s phone call after the excitement of the submarine broke until the hour before the Australian leader flew to Rome last week.
The couple did not hold bilateral meetings in Rome, but Morrison said they had “pronounced several times” and would likely do it more in the coming days.
Both leaders will attend the UN climate summit at Glasgow, Scotland, this week.
President Joe Biden said Macron last week that the US had been “careless” in the handling of the Australian submarine alliance.
Biden said, he thought Marcon had been told long before the agreement was announced.
Asked by a reporter if Australia can have “Better handled,” Joyce replied: “Looking back” He then pulled an analogy to the Melbourne Cup, the most famous horse race Australia, which will be run on Tuesday.
“If only I could put the bet last year, my goodness, I would make money,” Joyce said.
