Melbourne: The Australian Grand Prix and Formula MotoGP will be canceled on Tuesday for the second year in a row because of the Pandemic Coronavirus, AFP understands.
The committee plans to hold a race in October and November, but has reached a road barrier to Australian requirements for foreign arrivals to undergo 14 compulsory quarantine days.
The official announcement by the head of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation Andrew Westacott is expected lately Tuesday, AFP has learned.
Formula One race has been driven back from the opening slot of his traditional season in March to November 21, after the Brazilian Grand Prix and before the inaugural race in Saudi Arabia.
Cancellation will mean two years without the race in Melbourne’s Albert Park after the version 2020 was dramatically called right before the opening training session.
It followed the Singapore Grand Prix, which was scheduled for October 3, was also canceled than Covid-19 concerns.
The MotoGP circuit also skipped Australia last year due to a pandemic but is scheduled to return to Phillip Island on October 24.
While Australia has been among the most successful countries in the world in loading Coronavirus, Melbourne has struggled through several locking.
