Australian coach Justin Langer believes his team can rebuild themselves as the best in the world when they prepare potential semi-finals with Pakistan at the Twenty20 World Cup this week.
Tim Langer booked their place in the last four on Saturday because David Warner’s unbeaten directed Australians to the eight-goal victory over West Indies who secured the second place in the Super 12 phase of the competition.
“Not long ago we were the best team in the world and some of the cricket showed that we could become the best team in the world,” Langer told reporters.
“I think English leads now and we have interesting prospects.” We take more lessons from this tournament about how we can continue to play T20 Cricket now, for this tournament, and move forward.
“Australians started strongly in the competition before suffering eight eight defeats against England who left the side of captain Aaron Finch uncertain about their place in the knockout system.
But a comprehensive victory over Bangladesh and West Indies ended doubts and Australians.
Tend to face Pakistan , which leads Group 2 with their last match against Scotland to be played on Sunday, in the semi-finals Thursday.
“It was brilliant again last night, I thought our last match had become an extraordinary cricket,” Langer us said..
” Children really step.
It was a serious experience against England.
We knew we had to do some work and the way boys responded brilliantly, so it was happy to be in the semi-finals.
“You can’t win it unless you are in the semifinals.
Nice to sit here, know we are in the semi-final on Thursday.” Pakistan has become the dominant force in group 1, winning the four matches until now, and Langer looks forward to clashes in Dubai.
“They have a whole team, as we have, and they are led well,” he said.
“Their captain, Babar Azam, is a superstar of the game.
They are some good speed bowlers and they have some good spinners, so they are a balanced side like us, so it must be a great game of Cricket.”
