Berlin: Austrian police said a man hid his mother’s body in his basement for more than a year to continue to receive his retirement and nursing benefits.
Police in Tyrol Province said on Thursday that officers visited men in the Innsbruck area last weekend because suspicion had emerged that his mother aged 89 years died in June 2020.
They said in a statement that the 66-year-old child admitted questioning His body was in the basement after he died at home so he could continue to receive his benefits.
The investigation so far shows that he took the “mid-five digit” number of euros.
Authorities carried out an autopsy on his mother’s body on Wednesday and did not find evidence of rotten play.
