Austrian parliament to vote on the universal vaccine mandate

Vienna: The Austrian parliament will vote on Thursday about introducing the Covid-19 vaccine mandate for adults, the first of its kind in Europe.
The mandate compiled by the government will apply to all Austrian populations aged 18 years and over, with the exception of pregnant women, individuals who for medical reasons cannot be vaccinated, and those who have recovered from Corenavirus infection in the past six months.
.
Seems to be sure of approval.
The Chancellor Karl Nehammer coalition consists of a conservative and green Austrian People’s Party, working with two of the three opposition parties in Parliament on the plan.
Another opposition party, the party freedom remotely, hard against it.
The plan for the vaccine mandate became law in early February.
To get started, the authorities will write to every household to tell them about new rules.
From mid-March, the police will begin checking people’s vaccination status during routine examinations; People who cannot produce evidence of vaccination will be requested in writing to do so, and will be fined up to 600 euros ($ 685) if not.
If the authorities assess the progress of the country’s vaccination is still not enough, Nehammer said they will then send reminders to people who remain not vaccinated.
If it still doesn’t work, people will send vaccination and fined if they don’t save them.
Officials hope they don’t need to use the last size.
Fines can reach 3,600 euros if people oppose penalties and full processes are opened.
This mandate should remain at the end of January 2024.
The Expert Commission will report to the Government and Parliament every three months in the progress of vaccination.
The government was originally intended for the mandate to be applied to all citizens 14 and more, but changed it to 18 during consultation with political opponents and others.
The Austrian government announced the planned mandate of the universal vaccine at the same time imposed locking lifted in November and amid fears that the level of Austrian vaccination was relatively low for Western Europe.
On Wednesday, 71.8% of the population of 8.9 million were considered fully vaccinated.
“ All experts believe that we will need a high overall immunity in the upcoming population too, ” Health Minister Wolfgang Meeckstein said Sunday.
“ With this vaccine mandate, we will succeed in reaching an additional important percentage point at the vaccination rate.
“Some other European countries have introduced vaccine mandates for professional or certain age groups.
German neighboring countries consider the mandate for all, but it is unclear whether, when and in what form will continue.
