Automatic rates are likely to be revised this month in MySuru

MySuru: District administration has decided to review the demands submitted by car drivers who are looking for revisions in basic automatic rates and costs for each kilometer.
Automatic drivers have sent memorandum to the urgent regional transportation authority to increase car rates on the Bengaluru line.
At present, basic automatic rates are Rs 25 for an initial trip of 1.9 km and after that for every kilometer, RS 13 is charged from customers.
The driver has demanded a revision after Covid Unlock because they struggled to meet the need for increasing inflation.
Harish R, a automatic driver, said no one had heard complaints and difficulties.
“Adding to this, often direction to keep social distance by bringing fewer passengers has added more misery.
The increase in commodity prices and fuel has made us improve,” he said.
Nanjundaswamy, Sathisha and Nagesha, also faced similar problems.
“We cannot demand more fees from passengers because the authorities will punish us if there are complaints from passengers.
The driver automatically faces a lot of trouble – initially facing threats from the car aggregator, then the locking is induced by a pandemic, and now the price increase,” they said.
Regional, Western Transportation Officers, Bhimana Gouda Patil, who is the secretary of members of the Regional Transportation Authority, said they have received a petition from several car driver associations that are looking for revisions of automatic rates on the Bengaluru line.
“The problem will be discussed at the RTA meeting scheduled for February 1 and the decision will be taken in this matter,” he said.
“The automatic driver demands that the minimum / base rate be increased to Rs 30 for a distance of 2 km early and then Rs 15 for each kilometer next.
The rate was last revised in 2014,” RTO explained.
Officials said that almost all cars in Mysuru City ran in LPG while in rural areas, several cars continued to run on gasoline.
According to sources, almost 9,000 cars are registered in MySuru.
