Thiruvananthapuram: AUTO-TAXI strike announced in the state of Wednesday’s midnight, demanding revisions immediately from Tariffs of Outting, postponed by union leaders after discussions with the Minister of Transportation Antony Raju.
They told the media that the decision was taken considering the positive response from the government.
Then, Raju also responded firmly when he said that the demands submitted by automatic taxi unions were relevant and can be justified.
Previous rates revisions for taxi services automatically come into force in December 2018.
Trade unions suppress the government to increase the minimum RS 5 in the minimum rate and the next increase in running rates.
At present, the minimum rate for automatic rickshaw is Rs 25 for the first 1.5km.
The minimum tariff for taxis is RS 175.
Raju told reporters that the former High Court Judge M Ramachandran will be asked to submit a revised proposal for a month and rates will be resolved by the government, given the recommendations.
Union leaders said the government had promised actions against fake taxi operators, one of the main demands they submitted.
Despite the workers, led by BMS, initially refused to accept decisions taken by other trade unions to postpone strikes, they also decided to stand up with a decision, hoping for the initial tariff increase by the government.
Trade unions have increased tariff increases for some time now given the increase in fuel prices over the past three years.
In addition to revisions of tariffs, trade unions have placed more demands, including reducing tax rates, financial assistance packages and release from mandatory GPS installations for old vehicles.
