Gurgaon: The Ministry of Health on Tuesday said it would start passive supervision in the Chakkarpur area from Wednesday to assess the threat of bird flu after the death of a boy’s boy was 11 years ago.
A survey will be conducted to assess whether anyone dies because of pneumonia or from non-fair respiratory problems in the area in the past month.
On July 11, Sushil Kumar, who lives in Chakkarpur, died at AIIMS Delhi because of Acute Mieloid leukemia and related complications.
The boy was confirmed to sign H5N1 Avian Influenza.
The livestock department said on Tuesday, 15 people had been found with symptoms of lightweight fever and four sore throats in a radius of 10 km chakkarpur.
However, all the close contacts of the boy have no symptoms.
There have been no reports of unusual deaths in birds in the district, he added.
“Active supervision in this area is complete, we have implemented it for 10 days.
We will conduct passive supervision now.
Our team will check whether there are those who die unnatural because of pneumonia or respiratory pressure in July by reports with health care facilities.
This will give us a clear picture if the people in the area are infected earlier than bird flu, “said Gurgaon’s Gurgaon Virender Yadav.
Passive Surveillance is a system where the health department receives reports submitted from hospitals, clinics, public health units or other sources.
This is a relatively inexpensive strategy to cover a large area and provide important information to monitor public health.
Meanwhile, the results of the sample were collected by the National Institute of High-Security Animal Institute of Indian Agriculture Research Council, Bhopal, on Sundays awaited.
