Copenhagen: Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Soereide said Friday he regretted that “it was impossible to help everyone this time” as the final field of the Evakary of Afghanistan landed in Oslo.
Eriksen Soereide told the Norwegian news agency NTB that the plane brought 128 people including Norwegian citizens and “others who qualified to enter and the Afghans who need protection.” So far, Norway has evacuated 1,098 people.
Another aircraft will be the last with EvaCuees, scheduled to arrive on Friday.
“This will be the last plane with people who have received assistance to travel from Kabul this time,” he added.
“The operation ended after a terrible terrorist attack yesterday who claimed many lives.
We are all clear that time window can be short, either because of the security situation and because the deadline has been set for a settlement.”
