Nagpur: Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (Aweil), the new PSU defense is formed from Gun Carriage Factory (GCF) in Jabalpur, and other group factories, will take part in the tender issued for air defense weapons by the army.
GCF in Jabalpur has made a L-70 weapon running on a mechanical system.
No more order for the L-70 with the last batch released for the army last year.
Now when the Army wants an enhanced weapon with electronic equipment, Aweil as a PSU must compete in the open tender process along with the private sector.
The source said it had taken part in the tender for air defense weapons prepared separately by the Indian Air Force.
A source said the technical round was finished and the decision about the price bid for the IAF tender was awaited.
Tender by troops and IAF is around 200 weapons each.
Anti-airplane weapons will have electronic radar equipment.
Meanwhile, even before Aweil was made, the GCF has also increased the L-70 Legacy weapon in the Association with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), said the source.
The last batch of upgraded weapons was supplied last year.
Meanwhile, the company also made Dhanush 155×45 mm weapons on Swedish bophor lines.
About 20 weapons have been made so far with 24 targets for this year.
In October last year, weapons have completed a trial where the shellfish was fired at a full cost.
The test was carried out after the hit muzzle incident was reported during training by the Army.
After that another trial will take place where a number of certain rounds will be fired.
Dhanush’s final spread will occur after that.
The trial is expected to be held this month.
