PANAJI: All do not seem good with BJP in Panaji with Panaji MLA MLANAIO ‘Babush’ Monserrate called from his campaign scheduled to be launched on Monday at 8 am from Mahalaxmi Temple.
His decision came after the former Minister of Manohar Parragar, Utpal, claimed that he would become a BJP candidate from Panaji.
MLA four times said he would start his campaign only after the party announced his Panaji candidate, adding that BJP Mandal wanted him to start his campaign on Monday, but he told them to wait until the ticket was announced, “I’m not sure that I will get a BJP ticket and If when campaigning someone asked me where my ticket was fighting, it would be embarrassing to me, “said Monserrate.
“I haven’t asked anyone for tickets, but I am sure that I will compete from Panaji,” said BJP Panaji Mla.
Two months ago, Utpal had started his election campaign in Panaji and expressed confidence that BJP would consider his nomination for assembly selection.
He has started a door-to-door campaign and holds a booth level meeting.
Last week after Monserrate said that he was here to stay at BJP, Utpal clarified his intention to enter the 2022 assembly field.
“Now not looking back ….,” Utpal had tweeted.
He held a meeting with the National President of BJP J P Nadda, who called him to Delhi to listen to his case.
“I have told Nadda that the core of BJP Karaktas and BJP voters with me and I got good support in Panaji,” Utpal said even when he added that Nadda did not give him suggestions.
During the Panaji election after the death of Parragar, BJP denied Utpal tickets at the last moment.
After being elected on a Congress ticket, Monsererrate joined BJP in 2019 and since then he has become a strong competitor for BJP tickets.
