Baby bust: Chennai Spouses behind Shut doors play it safe

CHENNAI: As the pandemic frighten locked down the city and pushed individuals behind closed doors, most believed it could result in your baby boom.
However, Chennai, as standard, has upended hopes to document its biggest recession in births — almost 42 percent fall in April 2021 in comparison to the identical period this past year.

Population scientist Ajeesh Kumar, an authority in demography, but warns that it may be too early to predict the tendency a baby break.
“It isn’t feasible to collect quality information throughout the pandemic.
Therefore, we have to wait for 2 years to understand the fad,” he explained.
