Baby kidnapping Situation in Goa raises Problems of patriarchal mindset

PANAJI: The recent kidnapping of a baby boy in GMC has attracted society’s patriarchal mentality into the end, a cross-section of individuals stated.

Assistant professor in Goa University’s department of women’s studies, Sulochana Pednekar, said girls that are under such stress experience acute anxiety when pregnantwomen.
“Additionally, there are several reported instances of girls suffering post-natal melancholy if they had been anticipating a boy and whether the kid turns out for girl.,” she explained.
She pushed for good sex education courses for many school kids and open discussion of problems in order society’s patriarchal mentality of getting a boy to light the funeral pyre, to find moksha (freedom), to select the family inheritance and name ahead is done .
“Our whole society must have ownership with this event.
Unless people quit raping women for kids, especially male children, these matters will last,” Pednekar stated.
