Back to school: Kerala Govt release guidelines

Thiruvananthapuram: The State Government, on Friday, released a set of guidelines entitled ‘Returning to School’ which detailed DOS and should not be followed by students, teachers, parents, and other stakeholders when schools opened in November 1.
Public Education Minister V Sivankutty and Health Minister Veena George released the document at a press conference.
Documents highlight the role that will be played by the school authorities, various departments, parents, the environment when the school partly opens back for class I-VII and 10 and 12.
Other classes will begin on November 15.
Sivankutty said there would be a class until the daytime the first two weeks.
Schools can divide students into groups, sub-groups and academic activities will not be given push in the early weeks.
There will be class on Saturdays too.
He said the school could decide on lunch preparation and distribution, based on land situations.
Parental approval is mandatory for students to go to school.
As previously announced, students with disabilities do not need to go to school initially.
This exception does not apply to schools for students who are visually challenging.
All teachers and staff should have received two doses of vaccines before they opened again.
Those who run shops near the school and school bus drivers must be fully vaccinated.
The class must be arranged in such a way that a group of students is in school for three consecutive days / week.
Suggestions for parents must be sought when including students in different groups.
It would be better if students who come from certain areas are included in a group.
In schools have more than 1,000 students, only 25% of students can be allowed on certain days.
Until class VII, two students can be allowed on the bench.
Enough air circulation must be ascertained in class.
Student activities will be managed by considering them as different bio bubbles.
The teacher will also be part of a different bio bubble.
If Bio-Bubble members catch Covid, all groups will be quarantined.
There will be tight limits to visitors.
Those who are the main contact of Covid patients must stay at home.
Every school will be diligently maintaining, updating register and Covid details will be shared with higher every day.
Doctor services will be ensured by all schools.
Parents can contact Helpline Disha to remove doubts after the school is reopened.
There must be a health monitoring committee in every school and they have to meet weekly once.
After two weeks, the government will review the situation and based on the Ministry of Education will bring up the academic calendar.
