Nagpur: Bus routes have been temporarily diverted in several parts of the city as Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) repairing roads or bad roads.
All sudden changes in routes and longer travel times for the past few days have uncomfortable commuters using Aapli bus services.
“On various routes, the bus will not go to the designated end destination because of a bad road,” said an official from the NMC transportation department.
He added that the streets ridden by Pothole have caused problems for commuters and riders throughout the city.
“The NMC has stopped operating the Aapli bus at least five routes because of the construction of construction cement roads or poor road conditions.
Many routes have also been changed due to poor roads,” added the official.
The incomplete cement road work on the Hingna route, Pardi and Kampee has turned into a nightmare not only for private vehicles but also Plying City buses on these routes.
Other routes affected include Sitabuldi-Nagsenvan and Sitabuldi-Yeshodhara Nagar.
Toi has highlighted the streets ridden by Pothole to cause problems with commuters and riders throughout the city.
Commuter using the Aapli bus upset.
“The Civic’s body only operates 65% of the 400-odd red bus and route diversion because the bad road adds to our misery,” Mahesh Gothi, Regular Commuter Bus Aapli.
“The bus takes a light detour, for one hour or more, if the repair work is taking place.
Daily damage also increases and at least 20 buses stranded on different routes,” the official said.
One red bus operator confirmed that poor roads have increased the cost of Aapli bus care by 30%.
Bad roads damage suspension, steering box, and shock absorbers from many buses.
Problems related to foundation bolts and flat tires are also common, the operator is claimed.
“It’s getting worse for us and on the route diverted, both buses and commuters must suffer,” recognizing the Aapli bus driver who asked for anonymity.
A lot of time, commuters were asked to go down to the middle due to damage to the city bus.
“Damage has caused the driver and conductor of the Aapli bus who faced commuter anger,” another driver said.
