Juneau, Alaska: Bad weather conditions hampered the efforts to restore the body of six people killed when a road plane crashed into Southeast Alaska, Alaska state forces on Friday.
The plane fell on Thursday when the pilot returned five passengers to the ketch of the Misty Fjords National Monument, the federal flight administration said.
Beacon emergency aircraft activated around 11:20 a.m.
When falling near the monument, the US coast guard said.
A helicopter company reported seeing debris on Ridgeline in the search area, and the coast guard crew members found debris around 14:40.
The coast guide helicopter lowered two rescue swimmers to the site, and they reported no survivors, the agency said.
The victims have not been identified, and the troops work with volunteers from the Rescue Squad volunteer Ketchikan to coordinate recovery efforts.
“The condition of bad weather and deteriorating visibility in the Ketchikan area and Misty Fjords has prevented the army and volunteer of Alaska State from the Ketchikan Volunteer Savior squad from making a recovery effort this morning, ” said Austin McDaniel forces spokesman in the email related to the press.
