Tirupur: A large-scale fire extinguisher broke in the cotton Godown of the spinning plant here on Wednesday, moving cotton racing worth several lakh rupees.
However, employees were not hurt in the fire, which broke in a warehouse on the Atra near Avinashi.
According to employees, the fire was noticed as a small spark in cotton stock, which was immediately spread throughout the failure that burned several bales and machines there.
Workers tried to extinguish the fire, but failed in an effort when the flame spread quickly.
They told the fire personnel and rescue, which rushed water tender from Avinashi.
After fighting for about two hours, the fire finally went out.
“However, the large mound of cotton stock was burned into ash at that time,” said fire service personnel.
Once employees and fire service personnel are sure about the cause of fire, but suspicious that it can be caused by a short circuit.
Preficials have requested another grinding to do proper and periodic maintenance work to avoid short circuits.
