Balaji Srivastav to take over as Delhi’s new police chief

New Delhi: Balaji Srivastav, Officer of the 1988-batch agmut cadre, will be the new Police Commissioner Delhi.
He will be responsible for Wednesday afternoon.
The order in this case was issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday.
Srivatav has served in RAW for nine years and handles sensitive tasks, including assignments in London.
He is currently posted as a special commissioner, alertness.

Shrivastava, arranged to retire on Wednesday afternoon.
Srivastav will retire in 2024 and thus it is expected to have a long tenure as a police commissioner.
Srivastav previously served as Director General of Police Puducherry, Mizoram and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
In Delhi police, he is the head of intelligence, economic wing, and also leads the elite anti-terror unit, specific cells, in the rank of special commissioners.
Srivastav made his graduation in the economic Honors of St Stephen’s College, followed by the Economics of the Delhi School of Economics and LLB from Delhi University.

He served in the CRPF in deputation when he was taken overnight to extinguish the Northeast Delhi riots.
Shrivastava not only controlled riots within 24 hours but also led the most extensive riot investigations, which involved 750 pine registration and the arrest of more than 1,800 people on violence which caused 53 deaths and injuries to hundreds of people.
Shrivastava was credited with handling the Covid-19 situation in a very efficient way even when he ensured that his infected subordinates were the best care.
He also managed to uphold the lock quite smoothly and handle the migrant crisis successfully without using strength.
With him on a helmet, the troops also showed his side and out to help lakh people in need during locking.
