Bhubaneswar: Ballasore was awarded as the best sea district in the country.
For the first time, a district of Odisha received this award.
Minister of Competition for Fisheries, Livestock and Milk Makers Parshottam Rupala gave this award at the World Fisheries Day celebration here on Sunday.
Andhra Pradesh was awarded the best Marine State, while the best land award was given to Telangana.
Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh received the Best Doman District and Billy and Northeastern state awards and the District Award was taken by Tripura and Bongaigaon, Assam.
Rupala in his speech said the center provided all the support needed to achieve the export target of one lakh crore from the fisheries sector in 2024-25.
There is a need to come up with environmentally friendly fishing along with taking steps to defend the sector while continuing consumption, he added.
He said the center had extended the support of the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) to fishermen and women.
Will immediately start a massive campaign to increase greater awareness about KCC, he added.
The Minister of State for Fisheries, Livestock and Preparation of Milk Murugan said the government was emphasizing agriculture seaweed.
“We also focus on Empowerment of Fisherwomen and promote entrepreneurship in this sector,” he added.
The ministers visited the exhibition kiosk entered by farmers and entrepreneurs in the venue.
Various posters, Jingle in the fisheries sector were also released during the event.
Senior state and central officials attended the event.
Paradip is one of five main ports in India which is being developed as a major fishery port.
Odisha has received the best sea country last year.
Even the district of the district has received the best Doman District award last year.
