Kiran Singh (45), died of suicide by burning it in his room at the Varsity campus on Monday.
Deputy additional Police Commissioner Vikas Chandra Tripathi said that during the initial investigation the police had arrived that he was upset because of health problems for a long time.
The body has been sent for postmortem and further investigation is being carried out, he added.
Dr.
Singh, a professor of Associate in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Human Bhu dwelled at a Winden Winden Sarojini Naidu with her husband Vivek Singh and the daughter of Swayamprabha.
Her husband told the police that he went to Sigra for some work while the girls played in the room on the ground floor of PF home.
Their domestic assistance Rajendra came to clean the house but Dr.
Singh sent him again asking to come on Tuesday.
After sometimes Swayamprabha watched the smoke on the first floor when he raised the alarm.
On listening to it, the University’s Proctorial Board personnel ran towards the site and also warned the fire brigade.
However, before the fire in the room could be extinguished, Dr.
Singh had died, said Inspector Lanka Mahesh Pandey.
Following the initial inspection of the police incident site suspected that he would have the paper on fire in the room for burning it.
The police are also called forensic experts for collection of evidence.
Dr.
Singh’s husband and daughter felt they could not say the reason for committing suicide.
But, Vivek told the police that he was upset because of his health problems, police said.
