Dhaka: Bangladesh has received 5 million doses of other Covid-19 vaccines developed by the Sinopharm Pharmaceutical China Group.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines flights carry a dose of China’s vaccine landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health Maidul Islam Prodhan told reporters.
Abu Zaher, Head of the Health Coordinator at the Ministry of Health and the Welfare of the Bangladeshi Family, received a consignment at the airport, reported the Xinhua news agency.
On September 11, 5.4 million doses of synopharm vaccine arrived in Dhaka.
Bangladesh started the Covid-19 vaccination drive in January to load a pandemic that has spread throughout the country.
The Bangladeshi government then stopped the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine after India prohibited the exports of vaccines.
In June, drive vaccination was continued in several parts of the country with a synopharm vaccine.
So far Bangladesh received around 25 million doses of synopharm vaccine.
