Dhaka: Bangladesh on Saturday reported zero death in the last 24 hours for the first time since last year’s pandemic outbreak, said a senior official.
The achievement occurred when a constant effort was made by the Bangladesh authority to contain death because the contagious Koronavirus which has so far claimed the life of 27,946 people and was infected with more than 1.5 million until now.
“I am pleased to tell you that there are no deaths reported from Coronavirus in the last 24 hours…
178 people were diagnosed with Covid-19 so far,” said Ministry of Health spokesman told Newsmen.
Bangladesh’s health authority reported the first Covid-19 death on April 3 last year.
Professor Nazmul Islam, spokesman for the Directorate of Health Services (DGHS), said it was a “great relief” for the state that the case of infection fell but remained a matter of observation if the mortality rate remained zero.
According to the DGHS, the virus has so far killed 27,946 people and was infected with more than 1.5 million while the mortality rate now stands at 1.78 against 100 infected people.
DGHS said 1.18 percent of the positive Covid-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours as 15,107 samples were tested.
It was said from the start of the pandemic, 97.72 percent of Covid-19 patients recovered while 1.78 percent died.
