Bank employees are convicted of cheating retired school teachers

Mangaluru: The first additional district and Judge T P Ramaling Gowda session punished a bank employee for four years in prison and enforced a fine of Rs 15,000 to find him guilty of cheating a retired school teacher, on Tuesday.
The Public Prosecutor Shekar Shetty said that Theresa D’Souza, retired teacher, gave its pension number for 2006-07 and 2008-09 to the relative Gracie Fernandez, and asked him to deposit in an account at the National Bank branch in the city, where he worked.
Gracie failed to deposit the number of pensions to a thgera account.
When he asked for a passing book update, the manual entry was made, and he had issued a fake receipt.
A few days later, when Theresa checked the details of his account, he realized that his account only had Rs 15,571 instead of Rs 5.4 Lakh.
When he went to Gracie’s house to ask about that number, he was threatened by the defendant and her husband.
Based on complaints, the defendant was arrested and chargesheet was submitted.
In November 2016, senior civilian judges of the second additional and justice judges had released Gracie.
Allowing the appeal by the state government, he was sentenced to four years in prison and fined Rs 12,000 for violations that could be punished under various parts of the IPC.
He was also sentenced to two years and enforced a fine of RS 2000 for violations could be punished under the section of the 379 IPC (penalty for theft) and one year and a fine of RS 1,000 for violations below the Section 465 IPC (punishment for forgery).
All sentences will go together.
Of the total amount, 10,000 Rs will be given to retired teachers as compensation.
