WASHINGTON: Former President Donald Trump Advisor Steve Bannon entered Plea “innocent” Wednesday after his arrest on charges of congressional insults for refusing to testify on the January 6 attack on the Capitol.
One day before the first trial scheduled in his case, Bannon entered a request at the Federal District Court in Washington, without explaining the reason for his request.
In October Bannon rejected a court call to testify to the DPR Special Committee who investigated the attack by hundreds of Trump supporters in the US legislature.
The house then referred to allegations of insult to the Ministry of Justice, where a large jury reviewed the case and chose to demand it in two calculations.
Investigator believes Bannon and other advisers to Trump can have information about the relationship between the White House and the horde that invaded the Capitol, on that day because of Joe Biden’s certification as the winner of the November 2020 presidential election.
Even though he was not an employee of the White House or Trump Advisor, Bannon’s lawyer said he said Protected by President’s privileges and do not have to work with the committee.
If punished, every load of insult can carry a month to one year in prison, and a fine of up to $ 100,000.
Bannon surrendered to the FBI on Monday and vowed to fight this case.
He accused President Joe Biden because he had “ordered” the Ministry of Justice to sue him.
“I won’t go backwards,” he told reporters.
