Bhubaneswar: The Railway Ministry has approved the Principle approval of the Bansapani-Barbil Train Railway project to take pre-investment activities that subjugated 100 percent of project funding by the Odisha government.
This project has been identified by Odisha Rail Infrastructure Development Limited, a joint venture of the Odisha Government (51 percent), and the train Ministry (49 percent) for development under the joint venture model.
The UNION Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told Lok Sabha on Wednesday that this project would reduce the distance between Barbil and steel mills in the Kalinga Nagar area in Odisha.
“Because this project has not been approved, there are no funds provided for the financial year – 17-17,” he said in the answer.
Vaishnaw also told the house about the new line project Digha-Jaleswar (41 km) approved in 2010-11.
The anticipated project costs are Rs 1584 Crore, he added.
“The project execution cannot be taken because the West Bengal Government has not taken land acquisition in the West Bengal Project,” he added.
In the answer, the minister said the solution to any train project depends on various factors such as the acquisition of fast land by the state government, forest opening by the Ministry of Forestry officials, a shift in violation utility, free distance from various authorities, geological conditions and topographic conditions.
The legal and order situation in the project project field, the number of work months in a year for certain project sites due to climate conditions.
He said all of these factors vary from the project to project and influence project completion time.
“Therefore, no confirmed project settlement timeline can be ascertained at this stage.
However, the train made all efforts to complete these projects earlier,” he said in the answer.
