Mangaluru: The two decades in the District of Dakshina Kannada has launched the initiative to invite people from all religions to visit the temple, have a glimpse of religious practices and interact with Muslim brothers who offer Namaz.
The concept of ‘Nammoora Maseda Banni’ was introduced at Havva Juma Mosque in Bolandi in Bantwal Taluk, 25km from here, with the aim of eliminating doubts about religion and building a strong interfaestic relationship to maintain communal harmony in the region, according to Mosque Committee members.
Nearly 300 guests were invited from the Hindu and Christian community to visit the mosque during the first range on Sundays.
Committee member C Abdullah told Tii Mosque Committee and Khatib Moulana Yahya Thangal Madani wanted to ensure people of all religions maintain friendly relationships and preserve harmony.
“Many people do not know how prayer is held in the mosque.
There is a misunderstanding among many Muslims and mosques is the cause of disputes in society.
Therefore, the committee develops the concept of inviting people from all religions to understand the function of the mosque and interact with religious leaders .
We have received a good response.
It makes us think of holding such a program regularly, “he said.
People from all parts of society, including doctors, engineers, lecturers, and others, visit mosques and appreciate this initiative.
“We will open the mosque for people from other religions as part of our initiative in the future too.
They are welcome to attend religious discourse, which can be sent on Kannada too,” he said.
The former BJP MLA A Rukmaya Poojary, who attended the reach on Sunday, said, “such initiatives will preserve communal harmony and help develop strong friendly relationships among people from various religions in society.”
